The Kurdistan Joint Diplomacy Committee of Political Parties and Organizations saluted the women marching to Ankara under the slogan “We walk to freedom with hope”.
The march, organized by the Free Women’s Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad – TJA) for the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, continues into its fifth day under the slogan “We walk to freedom with hope.”
Setting out from Amed (Diyarbakır) on 1 October, the participants were greeted by thousands in Urfa (Riha) and later in Adana. Today, Sunday, the march will continue to Mersin. Led by women, the march has received support from numerous institutions and organizations.
The Kurdistan Joint Diplomacy Committee, consisting of multiple Kurdish political parties and organizations, released a statement in support of the march. The committee noted that it held its 31st meeting yesterday in Brussels, where one of the main topics was exploring new perspectives for resolving the Kurdish question in Turkey.
In its message saluting the TJA march from Amed to Ankara, the committee said: "We draw great strength from the determined and persistent stance of Kurdish women for a free future. Across all four parts of Kurdistan, women have paid heavy prices for freedom and have been pioneers of the greatest resistance movements. Today, Kurdish women are recognized globally and have undoubtedly become a powerful source of strength for our national liberation.
We hope the Turkish government recognizes the determination, will, and resistance of the Kurdish women in this freedom march and takes the necessary political and legal steps to achieve the freedom being demanded. We also believe this march will pave the way for the physical freedom of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan.
With our belief in the principle of ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadî’ (Woman, Life, Freedom), we are confident that your march will achieve meaningful and successful results. With respect and solidarity."
