The DEM Party Imrali Delegation released the following statement following its meeting with Abdullah Öcalan:
"On 3 October 2025, we held a meeting lasting nearly three and a half hours with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan at İmralı Prison. As always, Mr. Öcalan was in high spirits, healthy, and confident.
He stated that with the Peace and Democratic Society Process that began a year ago, a state of non-conflict has prevailed in our country and major dangers have been averted, emphasizing that everyone who played a role in this process has contributed great and honorable efforts.
Mr. Öcalan said: ‘One of the important models of resolution developed by civilization after three centuries of destructive conflicts and the terrible losses of the world wars is deliberative (negotiated) democracy. The methods and mechanisms that form its essence should be taken as a basis for solving many of the problems Turkey faces both domestically and internationally.’ He proposed that democratic negotiation should dominate all political and social relations.
Mr. Öcalan stated, ‘We stand by our statement in the February 27 declaration that the progress of the process depends on political and legal requirements,’ and emphasized that at this stage, it is extremely important to identify and implement the legal requirements with a correct and comprehensive perspective.
Finally, Mr. Öcalan stated that the new century of the Republic must be built upon the law of peace and democracy."
