European cities demanded freedom for Öcalan

The actions were to condemn the 9 October 1988 international conspiracy against Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the isolation regime imposed on him in Imrali. 

Protest actions and demonstrations have taken place in at least 9 countries and 20 cities responding to the call of the KCDK-E Co-Presidency Council and the European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E).

The actions were to condemn the 9 October 1988 international conspiracy against Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and the isolation regime imposed on him in Imrali. 

DEN HAAG: 

In the Netherlands, in the city of Den Haag, hundreds of people joined the protest action to condemn isolation and the international conspiracy against Öcalan. In the leaflets read in Dutch and English special attention was paid to the isolation Öcalan is subjected to in Imrali.

Kurdish community center DEM-NED Co-Chair Engin Yurtsever said they would break the isolation and reach a free Kurdistan. The action was supported by Turkish socialist and communists.

STOCKHOLM: 

The October 9 conspiracy was condemned and freedom for Kurdish Leader Abdullah Öcalan was demanded.

Kurds and their friends gathered in front of the Swedish Federation of Labor Unions (LO) building upon the call of the Swedish Democratic Kurdish Community Center and the Amara Kurdish Women's Council.

In the square, the press release of the NÇDK 9 October issue was read. Activists called on the Swedish Government and the European Union to take action to remove the isolation regime imposed on Öcalan and to put pressure on the Turkish state.

GÄVLE: 

Ciwanên Azad and Jinên Ciwanên Azad in Gävle, Sweden, distributed leaflets to inform the public about the October 9 conspiracy and the isolation imposed on the Kurdish People's Leader Öcalan. 

MARSEILLE: 

The Kurdish people living in southern France gathered in Canebiere Square in Marseille to protest the isolation imposed on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. 

Arin Mirkan Women's Assembly led the action, together with district councils and Ciwanên Azad. Nearly 2 thousand Kurdish people participated in the protest.

FRANKFURT: 

KCDK-E Co-Chair and European Kurdish Women (TJK-E) organised the demo in Frankfurt.

Kurds living in Frankfurt, Gissen, Mainz regions attended the rally in Frankfurt's Operational Center. 

HANNOVER: 

Hundreds of Kurds and friends gathered in front of the railway station.

In the action, the arbitrary practices of the German police officers were protested against. Tension rose when police wanted to seize a YPJ flag from the hands of American international conflict analyst Thoreau Redcrow saying it was a “forbidden symbol”. Police tried to prevent Fadil Donma, a Yeni Özgür Politika reporter to follow the news. 

VIENNA: 

The October 9 conspiracy was protested in the Austrian capital. Hundreds of people joined the action held at the Museumsquartier square under the leadership of the Vienna Democratic Kurdish Community Center. 

BREGENZ: 

An information stand was opened to explain to people what the protest was about.

BERN: 

An information stand was opened under the leadership of the Women's Assembly in Bern, Switzerland. 

DÜSSELDORF:

A march and rally were organised in the German city. HDP former deputy Tuğba Hezer, addressed the crowd saying that “the international conspiracy was directed not only against our leadership but against all Kurdish people and Kurdish women”. 

STUTTGART: 

In the city of Stuttgart, dozens of people gathered to protest against the conspiracy.

DTKM Ludwigsburg co-chairman Lokman Hedil addressed the crowd and after the people rallied to the meeting place.
