Syrian government: We will enter Idlib

The Syrian government announced that they will enter Idlib, whether through war or peacefully.

Turkey and Russia reached an agreement last week about Idlib. The deal foresees the forming of a demilitarized zone by mid-October.

Gangs need to leave the buffer zone planned between the Syrian regime and the areas under gangs’ control. But it is not yet known how Ankara will incorporate the gangs under their control into this plan.

According to the Al Watan newspaper, this deal was made in 2017 as part of the agreement to form no-clash zones. All the areas in question have since come under control of the Damascus regime.

Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Muqdad  said, “Like we have prevailed everywhere else in Syria, we will prevail here. Our message is very clear to all who are interested: We will enter Idlib, whether through war or peacefully.”
