Speaking at a session on Kurds under Turkish attack in the British Parliament, Labour MP Bambos Charalambous expressed their condemnation of the Turkish attacks and solidarity with the Kurdish people.

A session on Turkey's attacks against the Kurds and the uprising in Iran took place in the British Parliament on Thursday. The session hosted by Labour Party MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle was attended by KJAR (Community of Women of Eastern Kurdistan) Britain Representative Sonia Karimi, academic Azad Deewanee, SDG Britain Representative Ahmad Muslim and Shadow Minister (Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs) Bambos Charalambous as speakers.

Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) Co-Chair Ilham Ehmed attended the meeting online. The session drew intense interest from politicians, academics and journalists.

The session discussed the Turkish attacks on Rojava, Iran’s attacks on people and the popular uprising taking place under the motto "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî" [Woman, Life, Freedom].

Ilham Ehmed, Executive Committee Chairperson of the Syrian Democratic Council, sent a video message from Rojava, in which she spoke about the effects of the intense Turkish airstrikes on North-East Syria ongoing since 19 November, violation of international law and the silence of the international community and powers. Ehmed remarked that the Turkish state sought to free the ISIS members in the region by means of attacks against the Kurdish people.

Ehmed called on the government of Britain in particular to adopt a stand against war crimes committed by Turkey and thanked those who brought the issue up.

Shadow Minister Bambos Charalambous of the Labour Party expressed their condemnation of the Turkish attacks and solidarity with the Kurdish people. He stressed that they were working to take the necessary steps in this regard.
