HDP overcomes threshold despite Erdoğan and State of Emergency

HDP has overcome the 10% election threshold in the June 24 presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey despite intense manipulation, pressure and fraud.

As the counting of votes continues in the Supreme Board of Elections (YSK), the HDP has gained at least 12% of the vote according to unofficial results. According to results IHA announced, HDP has won 71 seats.

HDP is the first party in at least 11 provinces, and celebrations have started in Amed and other cities as the party continues to rise.

In the fascist climate created by the AKP government, it has become increasingly difficult to obtain results from an independent and reliable source. As the elections were held under State of Emergency conditions, the elections were anything but just or transparent.

The HDP and all the rest of the opposition was subjected to unprecedented pressure during the election process, and HDP's presidential candidate was forced to conduct his campaign from prison.

Despite all this, according to unofficial results, Demirtaş has won about 9% of the presidential vote while the Millet Alliance formed by CHP, IYI Party and SP won over 30% of the parliamentary vote. AKP's vote was at 43% while their alliance partner MHP won over 10%.

Participation levels were at 87% in the elections while serious doubts still prevail regarding the results. AKP mouthpiece Anadolu Agency's numbers are refuted by the opposition. CHP and HDP have protested the manipulation, and called on their voters to be careful and conscious. The YSK has yet to announce any figures.
