Journalist Kibriye Evren was freed from Diyarbakır D Type Closed Prison after the court decided to release her today.
Journalist Kibriye Evren was arrested on 9 October last year together with other 142 people in a Amed-based political genocide operation and accused of "being a member of an illegal organisation" and "making propaganda for an illegal organisation".
Today, at the hearing held at Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court, the judge ordered to release the journalist.
Evren was released in the evening from Diyarbakır D-Type Prison where she was detained. Evren was welcomed by her family, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP Saliha Aydeniz and members of the Mesopotamian Women's Journalists Platform and journalist friends.
