Emine Şenyaşar: I will not leave here until killers are arrested
For 106 days, Şenyaşar family has been holding a vigil for “justice” for their relatives killed in Urfa. The family has defined their action as a struggle for the rights.
Emine Şenyaşar who lost her husband and two sons in an armed attack of AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız’s bodyguards and relatives and her son Ferit Şenyaşar who was injured in the same attack continue their vigil action on the 106th day.
The mother and her son, earlier in the morning, began the vigil by displaying a banner reading “A mother has been holding a vigil for justice in front of Urfa Courthouse for 106 days. Her husband and two sons were murdered in a hospital. This incident has not been prosecuted for three years because a deputy is involved in the murder” in front of the barriers around Urfa Courthouse.
During the action Ferit Şenyaşar spoke to Mezopotamya News Agency and said, “We do not hold a sit-in action, here; we struggle for our rights. We have been in front of the courthouse for 106 days and there has been no progression about prosecution although everything is clear and obvious.”
Stressing the growing support for their action, Şenyaşar continued, “Our demand to meet the prosecutors has been rejected. If the prosecutors do not contact us, we will today submit a petition demanding to be informed of the reasons. We wonder what they will answer. We will convey their answer to the public opinion.”
Şenyaşar said, “We are here and invite everyone to come here for solidarity”, adding, “We want everyone to witness how a persecution is carried out in the way of “law” at Urfa Courthouse. For those misbelieving in what we told, we are ready to prove everything with evidence.”
Mother Emine Şenyaşar indicated her worsening health condition and said, “My eyes are not able to see anymore. I was examined in Antep and the doctor told me that I need a surgery. Until my arrested son (Fadıl Şenyaşar) is released, I will not get medication and leave here. If I am to die, I will die here” and continued, “The courthouse is open for everyone but we are banned. We demand surveillance footage in the hospital to be revealed. We do not want to curse any prosecutors. We only demand those involved in the murder to be arrested. Why are they not arrested?”
