ISTANBUL

Members of the Human Rights Association (IHD) Istanbul Branch Prison Commission held the weekly 'F sit-in' action following the precautions established to contain the coronavirus from spreading. The action reached week 423 and was carried out through social media. This week's statement highlighted the situation of seriously ill prisoner Engin Aydınalp, held in Samsun Bafra T Type Prison.

IZMIR

IHD Izmir Branch Prisons Commission members drew attention to the condition of ill prisoner Abdulkadir Aksu. The commission issued a press release this week as it could not carry out the usual action because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The statement underlined the high probability the prisoners have of getting infected since it is a problem to provide individual protection in an environment where hygiene is already a problem and where overcrowding is the norm.

The statement addressed the condition of ill prisoner Abdülkadir Aksu (58) who is in the F-Type Closed Prison No 1.

The IHD warned that "the state will be responsible for everything that could happen to ill prisoners."
