Speaking at the memorial was Erol Aydemir, who went on hunger strike in Sardinia 28 days ago and is now continuing his fast in Rome.

Aydemir has joined the hunger strike resistance demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Aydemir underlined the importance to reclaim the memory of Orsetti and the philosophy of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, and added: “Commemorating the martyrs all over the world is at the same time keeping their memories alive.”

Aydemir recalled that Orsetti and many revolutionaries were martyred in the struggle for humanity in Rojava, and stressed that they would take up the struggle of their comrades.

He added that the hunger strike resistance he has joined will continue until isolation on Ocalan is lifted.

A stand was also opened at the university to inform students and teachers about the hunger strike resistance.
