PUK MP: There are some 40 Turkish military bases in Iraq

Iraqi Parliament PUK MP Mihemed Osman said, “The invasion of the Turkish state is the violation of Iraq’s sovereignty. The Iraqi Parliament’s decision to remove Turkish soldiers from Iraqi territory isn’t being implemented."

Patriotic Union (PUK) MP Mihemed Osman spoke to RojNews about the Turkish state’s attempts to invade Bashurê (Southern) Kurdistani territory and military bases in the Kurdistan region and Iraqi territory and stated that there are 30 to 40 Turkish military bases in the area.

MP Mihemed Osman said the following on the matter:

“We said this before, we say this again. The Turkish army’s invasion of the lands of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq is the violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and it is illegal.

“30 TO 40 TURKISH MILITARY BASES IN THE AREA”

According to the information we have, there are 30 to 40 military training bases in Iraq. The Iraqi government needs to remove these forces. I consider allowing these forces to remain to be treason. There have been petitions before in the Iraqi Parliament to remove Turkish soldiers from Iraqi territory, but the Iraqi government doesn’t pass this resolution in the parliament as it should. The decision is up to Haider Al-Abadi, who is not making it.

“THOSE INVOLVED IN THE ARRIVAL OF TURKISH SOLDIERS MUST BE TRIED”

The presence of Turkish soldiers in Iraqi territory should be resolved and clarified within the framework of the Iraqi Constitution and laws. Those who are involved in the arrival of the Turkish soldiers must be investigated and put on trial.”
