Report on Kürkçüler jail confirms prisoners were tortured

Lawyer Tugay Bek said they could hold closed visits with prisoners Fatih Özgür Aydın, Umut Gündüz Altun, Fikret Kara and Sezai Demirtaş, and confirmed that the prisoners were attacked while protesting the death of Grup Yorum member Helin Bölek, and the lack of measures to try and avoid the coronavirus from spreading.
Lawyer Tugay Bek said: "The enforcement officers acted directly with a punishment intent and tortured prisoners. The traces of assault that we observed on the bodies of prisoners were consistent with the denounce of torture."
It was stated that the prisoners were also tortured during the attack carried out by guards.
The guards who beat prisoners said to them: "Have you seen the power of the state?"
The report also noted that the prison authorities are not taking any measure to prevent the coronavirus from spreading and that prisoners had used the same mask for days.
