A campaign was launched on social networks to demand the Hewler administration to lift the embargo against Maxmur.
Kurdish artists and politicians, recorded videos calling on the Federal Kurdistan Region Government to lift the 8-month long embargo.
Many posts contain photos from the camp and activists called on the Hewler government to prevent a humanitarian disaster. The situation of the camp is very serious, especially the health services are not equipped to counter the coronavirus infection.
The embargo was imposed on Maxmur camp - which is under the control of the United Nations - since the murder of MIT (Turkish Secret Service) executive Osman Köse, in Hewlêr on 17 July 2019.
In the camp there are 12 thousand Kurdsish refugees and there are serious difficulties in meeting basic needs. With the coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak, the extent of the threat to people's health and live has increased.
