The DBP called on the people to defend their will against the trustee coup in Bahçesaray.
The Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Central Executive Board (MYK) made a written statement about the appointment of a trustee to Bahçesaray (Miks) Municipality.
The statement said: "Wan Miks District Municipality co-mayor Ayvaz Hazır was sentenced by a politically motivated court decision. A trustee was appointed to Miks Municipality due to this political decision. We know very well that insisting on the trustee policy is an indication of hostility towards the Kurdish people. The AKP-MHP administration is trying to keep the Kurdish people without will. They hope that the Kurdish people will surrender. But no matter what they do, the Kurdish people will not bow down to the coup policy. We will continue our democratic struggle against the coup, and in this context, we call on our people to defend their will."
DBP co-chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır protested the decision to appoint a trustee on their social media accounts.
Uçar’s post said: "The will of the people continues to be usurped. This time, the sovereignty of the people was ignored in the Bahçesaray district of Van. We will never kneel in the face of the coup mentality. We have only one goal, and that is a democratic republic."
Bayındır said: "The basis of the trustee policy is hostility towards the Kurdish people. The aim of the trustee policy is to surrender to the will of the Kurdish people. However, this will is not emptied by the occupation of municipal buildings. Remember this: it is the will of the Kurdish people that will put an end to the coup policy."
