According to the information received, the first Newroz fire was lit in Pınardere (Elfan) a rural neighborhood in Savur, province of Mardin.

Young people danced and sang around the fire but the gendarmerie attacked the people. The fire was extinguished with water from TOMA.

This year's Newroz celebrations and actions will have the slogan "Ji bo yekîtî, democrasi, azadî" (for unity, democracy and freedom) and Turkish "For Democracy, Justice and Freedom".
