Four cases of coronavirus reported in Southern Kurdistan

In Southern Kurdistan, the first four cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed. The affected persons are a family of three and another woman. All of them have returned from a trip to Iran.

The Ministry of Health of the Kurdistan regional government has announced the first confirmed cases of coronavirus in the region. Tests were carried out on 24 suspected cases, which led to four positive results.

The victims are a family of three and another woman from Sulaymaniyah. All those infected have returned from a trip to Iran and apparently show no symptoms of the disease. They were previously in quarantine and are now in hospital.

According to the Iraqi Ministry of Health, a total of 17 coronavirus cases have been recorded in Iraq, including the four infections detected in Sulaymaniyah, six in Baghdad and five in Kirkuk.

In Iran, eleven people have died of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours. The number of deaths in the country has thus risen to 54. The total number of confirmed cases in Iran has risen to 978 according to official figures. Since yesterday, 385 new cases of the virus have been confirmed.
