HPG: One Turkish soldier killed in Çukurca

A soldier of the Turkish army was killed in the countryside of Hakkari province in northern Kurdistan.
The Press Office of People’s Defense Forces (HPG-BIM) released a statement reporting continued guerrilla actions and Turkish military attacks in Kurdistan territory.
According to the statement, the Turkish army launched an operation in Geliye Zap valley in Hakkari’s Çukurca (Çele) district on December 19. On the very same day, guerrillas hit the operation units in the area. The action left a soldier dead and another wounded, said HPG-BIM and added that the operation partially continues.
HPG-BIM reported continued attacks by the Turkish army against guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan, northern Iraq.
Accordingly, Turkish fighter jets targeted the following locations:
- Vicinities of the Kalatuka, Tepê Roj, Tepê Zergelê, Bereşê and Şêxan villages in Qandil region from 13:30 to 15:30 on December 19,
- Small Cilo area in Zap region at 14:00 on December 20,
- Vicinity of the Perax village in Heftanin region and surroundings of the Sida village in Zap region at noon on December 21.
The statement added that guerrillas suffered no casualties as a result of these bombardments.
