HPG reports ongoing use of chemical weapons by the Turkish army

The Turkish army continues to use chemical weapons and other prohibited means of warfare without interruption in its invasion campaign in Southern Kurdistan. The resistance area of Çemço is particularly affected by these attacks.

The Press Centre of the People's Defence Forces (HPG) reported that Turkey continues to use chemical weapons and other outlawed weapons in its invasion of Southern Kurdistan. In its daily overview of the war in the region, HPG said that the Turkish army used chemical weapons and banned bombs in twelve different attacks against guerrilla positions in the guerrilla-held Medya Defence Zones on Thursday. In addition, several airstrikes and dozens of attacks with howitzers, tanks and heavy weapons were carried out.

On the details of what happened on 27 October, the HPG gave the following information:

TWO SOLDIERS KILLED IN XAKURKE

In the Xakurke region, mobile guerrilla teams twice targeted the units of occupation forces in the surrounding area of the Girê Şehîd Şahan resistance massif with heavy weapons, killing at least two soldiers. In addition, a Turkish military position was destroyed in the action. At Girê Şehîd Axîn, guerrillas from the Free Women's Troops (YJA Star) struck and put enemy troops under fire. It is not known if and how many occupiers were killed.

POISON GAS ATTACKS BY THE TURKISH ARMY

The Turkish army's latest attacks with banned bombs and chemical weapons were directed against tunnel facilities in Çemço, Sîda, Girê Amêdî and Saca. The Şehîd Bahoz defence positions in Çemço were particularly affected by these attacks. According to HPG information, the attacks, in which tear gas was also used, lasted for more than 24 hours and were only stopped on Friday morning at around 8 am. The warfare agents were fed into the underground positions using hoses. The occupation forces also proceeded in a similar manner at the Şehîd Pîrdoğan battle positions on Amêdî Hill.

AIR AND GROUND ATTACKS

The areas of Kurojahro, Girê Amêdî and Girê Cûdî were bombed 14 times by attack helicopters. Çemço, Girê Cûdî and Girê FM were also attacked dozens of times by ground artillery. The outskirts of the village of Gundê Şêlazê and the front along the Zap River were attacked three times by fighter jets on 26 October. In the Karker area, the Turkish army repeatedly tried to demolish guerrilla positions with construction machinery.
