As part of its increasingly ongoing political genocide operations, the Turkish regime targeted democratically elected mayors of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Van province on December 6. Of the detained politicians, Muradiye district municipality co-mayor Yılmaz Şalan, Özalp district municipality co-mayors Dilan Örenci and Yakup Almaç were remanded in custody on Monday.

Sent to Van T Type Closed Prison after getting arrested, Özalp co-mayor Dilan Örenci has been hospitalized due to healt issues on Wednesday.

Örenci was diagnosed with hereditary angioedema, a disorder that results in recurrent attacks of severe swelling, mainly affecting the face, arms, legs, airway and intestinal tract. Örenci continues to be treated at the Van Regional Training and Research Hospital.
