Thousands from the eastern part of Rojava's Cizre canton gathered in Derik to condemn the February 15 1999 conspiracy against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Thousands of Kurdish, Arab, Syriac and Chaldean people from the eastern part of Cizre canton and officials from TEV-DEM, NGOs and North Syria Democratic Federation participated in the march against the February 15 conspiracy.
Protestors gathered at Azadî Square and carried posters of Öcalan and signs that read 'Freedom of our Leader is the Freedom of All Humanity.' Protestors marched through Derik and reached the area in front of the Rojava Youth Union. Here, a minute of silence was held and several speeches were made.
TEV-DEM Executive Council member Aldar Xelîl addressed protestors and said "Öcalan is the leader of not only Kurds but also of all Middle Eastern peoples. The gains of Rojava Revolution were made thanks to Öcalan's ideas."
Northern Syria Democratic Federation Co-president Mensûr El-Selûm also spoke and said “The conspirators' plans against our Leader have been defeated. They wanted to destroy the truth about the struggle he created but they failed. We tell the world that we will not backtrack in our struggle."
Kongreya Star administrator Perwîn Mihemed Emîn addressed the protestors and said that Öcalan's ideas have defeated the conspiracy. The march ended with the slogan "Long Live İmralı Resistance."
