The remains of HPG guerrilla Mahmut Tekin (Botan Êriş), who fell as a martyr in clashes that broke out on 28 March in the Alandüz district of Cilo, in Hakkari (Colemerg), were taken on Thursday from the homeless cemetery in Sere Solan, in Hakkari. His family brought the remains to the Seyrantepe Mahallesi Cemetery in Bismil, in the province of Amed, last night.
The police blockaded the cemetery and did not allow anyone except his family to attend the funeral.
Gerrilla Demir buried in Suruç
The remains of YJA Star guerrilla Peyam Demir (Rêvan Suruç), who fell a martyr in the same clashes, were given to her family 5 months later. On Thursday, the family took the body from the cemetery of the orphans in Sere Solan, in Hakkari, and brought it to Suruç (Pirsûs) in the province of Urfa (Riha). Demir was buried under a police blockade.
The soldiers blockaded the neighbourhood and the cemetery, and no one was allowed into the cemetery except family members. The family was threatened by the soldiers, who also confiscated the phones of family members who attended the ceremony to prevent them from taking photographs and videos during the burial.
