YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) continue their operation to liberate Raqqa from ISIS for the 59th day.
SDF fighters have rescued as many as 100 civilians, most of whom are women and children, through a corridor they opened in the neighbourhood of Nazlat Shehade south of Raqqa, a larger part of which has been cleansed of the gangs.
The fighters have broken one of the lines of defense of ISIS amid fierce clashes in the neighbourhood, in which 5 ISIS members were killed and bodies of 2 were seized alongside their ammunition.
In the neighbourhood of al-Barid northwest of the city, 3 ISIS snipers have been killed during clashes.
11 ISIS members, including a sniper, were killed during clashes in Rawda neighbourhood northeast of Raqqa. SDF fighters also destroyed a DShK-mounted vehicle of the gangs near the Etîq mosque.
In Nahda neighbourhood and Mesakin El-Idxar region northwest of the city, several buildings have been cleared of ISIS, and 6 gang members, 2 of them snipers, have been killed in the fighting in this region.
3 other ISIS members were killed by SDF’s snipers in al-Diriyah neighbourhood west of Raqqa.
On the other hand, SDF’s special units rescued 3 families, among them some with injuries, Thursday evening. The wounded civilians have been taken under treatment in the nearest clinic.
