It has been reported that 2700 people from Kobanê have returned to their hometown today after crossing from the Mürşitpınar border gate.
Thousands of people from Kobanê who had to flee the town following the attacks of the ISIS gangs have begun to return after its liberation by YPG/YPJ forces. The returns intensify on the days the border gate is open, which is Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
While the returns have accelerated in the recent days since after its liberation by YPG/YPJ forces, around 30 thousand people have reportedly returned to the town so far. The Mürşitpınar (Kobanê Serxet) border gate on the Turkish side is open for the returns on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during which thousands of people cross into Kobanê. According to the figures of Mala Gel (People’s House) which is registering the returnees at the border crossing, 2700 people have returned only today. The returnees are helped by Mala Gel to settle in the undamaged parts of the town and in the liberated villages.
The returnees, composed mostly of elderly and children, seem to be happy and cheerful as they turn back home despite the major problems and challenging conditions in the town.
