4 wounded people from Kobanê who were arrested at the farmhouse where they were receiving treatment three days ago have been charged with ‘membership of an illegal armed organisation’ and remanded in custody. Their lawyer said that two of those remanded needed urgent operations for their injuries. The owner of the house was also remanded on the same charge.
Ten people, including 6 who were wounded in clashes on various dates in Kobanê and had entered Turkey legally, were arrested on Tuesday during a raid on a farmhouse in Urfa. After 48 hours in police custody, three companions, one a child, and two of the wounded were released after giving statements to the public prosecutor. As for the owner of the house, Mustafa Çiçek, and 4 of the wounded, they were sent to court charged with ‘membership of an illegal armed organisation.’
They were sent to prison
The 4 wounded persons were remanded in custody on the charge of ‘membership of an illegal armed organisation’ under article 314/2 of the Turkish Penal Code and sent to prison. Mustafa Çiçek was also remanded on the same charge and the 5 were taken to the Urfa E Type Prison.
Two have serious injuries
Lawyer Sevda Çelik Özbingöl said that two of those remanded in custody had serious injuries. She said that doctors had said one with a back injury needed a second operation, while another needed an urgent operation to prevent permanent damage to a hand.
