66 detained in Istanbul yesterday

The Governor of Istanbul has reported that 66 people were taken into custody in Wednesday's protests across the city where police staged crackdown using disproportionate force against demonstrators who continued to pour out into the streets in protest at the ongoing of attacks of ISIS gangs on Kobanê and the ruling AKP regime's relations with the inhuman organisation calling itself the Islamic State.

The Governor also stated that 52 people including 3 policemen were injured in the conflict.

The day before, 98 people had also been detained by police forces in the districts of Arnavutköy, Ataşehir, Bağcılar, Başakşehir, Beyoğlu, Esenler, Esenyurt, Eyüp, Gaziosmanpaşa, Kadıköy, Kağıthane, Küçükçekmece, Maltepe, Sultanbeyli, Sultangazi, Sancaktepe, Ümraniye and Zeytinburnu. A total of 30 people, including 8 police officers, had been injured.

The detainees, excluding children, are reportedly being held at the police headquarters on Vatan Street.
