9 gang members killed in Sinjar

People’s Defence Forces (HPG) Sinjar Command and Sinjar Resistance Units (YBŞ) General Command have reported in a joint statement at least 9 ISIS members were killed in clashes in the last 24 hours in Sinjar, South Kurdistan.

The statement said guerrilla forces yesterday launched individual attacks on the ISIS gangs in Taxa Minare neighbourhood at 11:30, in Suka Jer neighbourhood at 14:00 and in Sitti Zeynep neighbourhood at 20:00-21:00, leaving 3 gang members dead.

In the attack in Suka Jer, the guerrilla forces targeted a mobile gang group with individual weapons, killing 2 gang members. A vehicle of the gangs was destroyed by the guerrillas in Taxa Minare at 10:00, said the statement.

The statement further reported that the ISIS gangs launched an attack with mortars and heavy weapons in Suka Jer at 11:30 yesterday, targeting the emplacements of the guerrilla forces in Suka Jer from one direction and the Martyr Erdal Hill near Suka Jer from the other one, said the statement.

HPG-YBŞ said that the gangs detonated explosives in two houses in the neighbourhood while guerrilla forces exploded a bomb laden vehicle of the gangs, killing 1 gang member. The total number of the casualties of the gangs was not clarified.

Clashes on Martyr Erdal Hill continued about 3 hours following the response of the guerrillas, leaving 3 gang members dead. A large amount of ammunition of the gangs was also seized in the clashes.

HPG and YBŞ commands added that YBŞ guerrilla by the name of Mansur Apoci- Şahap Hamid Bışar lost his life during the clashes, while another one was wounded.
