A hundred Kurdish youths in western Kurdistan capital Qamishlo have joined People's Defense Units (YPG) and its Women's Defense Units (YPJ) ranks on Sunday.

The fighters, describing themselves as the guard of the Kurdish people, have joined YPG and YPJ fighters to support them in the protection of the Kurdish neighborhoods in Tal Abyad which has been a scene of fierce clashes between Kurdish fighters and al-Qaeda affiliated armed groups that are attacking the Kurdish populated area with heavy weapons since late Saturday.
