Abdurrahman Olcay's bones to be delivered to his family

The bones of Abdurrahman Olcay which were found in a cesspool during excavations in Kızıltepe district of Mardin last year will be delivered to his family today.

Abdurrahman Olcay was one of the seven people who disappeared after being taken into custody in the district of Dargeçit on 30 October 1995 and interrogated by JITEM, the notorious gendarmerie intelligence and anti- terror unit held responsible for the murder of thousands of people in North Kurdistan in 90's.

Bones later confirmed to be his were found in a cesspool as an excavation work was conducted in the village of Aysun (Tılzerîn) in Kızıltepe last year as part of an investigation launched 18 years later.

A DNA test done on the bones at the Forensic Medicine Institution in Istanbul revealed that they belonged to Abdurrahman Olcay who had been murdered at the age of 18.

After the prosecutor has given a positive answer to the Olcay family who demanded to take the bones of their beloved one, Abdurrahman's bones, buried at Mesopotamia Cemetery in Kızıltepe, will be disintered and handed over to his family under the supervision of the prosecutor today.

Olcay's bones will later be taken to Batman and laid to rest there.
