The repeated calls from the FARC-EP for impartial information in the media not only refer to written or broadcast media; we also refer to other spaces that have never been touched. I refer to cyber espionage by the NSA, whose secrets have been disclosed recently by dissident Snowden.

The FARC-EP are not surprised by this kind of news; on the contrary, it only confirms what we have been saying for a long time, and certainly the same thing will happen with other issues that today are denied or ignored by the public.

We have been victims of sabotage and espionage for a long time, especially when it comes to our virtual spaces on the net, which we use to express our ideas and the reasons of our struggle.

Apart from the violent response of the government to the protests that have taken place these days, or other factors that make political activity in our country difficult, there is one issue that is mentioned very little: the "cyber war against the insurgency", the permanent blockade of our efforts to make visible our position on various issues.This war is permanent and continuous, and has been going on for a long time.

In recent days, the page AFP (FARC Press Agency, www.afpnoticias.tk/) was blocked by "unknown agents", violating freedom of expression and other freedoms of a sound democracy. I just wanted to give one single example of a great amount of actions that are carried out, making clear the precariousness of the vaunted guarantees proclaimed by the State.

Another telling case is the recent smear campaign running on different social networks such as the video "Quizás, quizás, quizás" which apart from being marked with a clear rightist political character, is a virus that has been distributed by email as method of spying on potential supporters of the insurgents. That shows how, through false messages purportedly from the Peace Delegation of the FARC-EP, they try to infiltrate PCs of unsuspecting users.

They have closed the channels where the Peace Delegation of the FARC-EP has wanted to express our vision on the peace talks to the world. Channels like YouTube, Google, Facebook, Blogs (http://www.pazfarc-ep.blogspot.com) are closed as soon as they start to receive a certain amount of visits, and not to mention the pages that are still working, like the official website of the FARC-EP www.farc- ep.co and sites of the Peace Delegation of the FARC-EP that are attacked several times a week, by invisible and dark forces.

Press agencies that stand out because they describe the other reality in Colombia, are attacked and sometimes they even resort to the prosecution of its journalists, as in the case of ANNCOL, or their persecution, in the case of other alternative media.

El Tiempo, El Espectador, Semana, El Colombiano, and a lot of blogs and sites that express (extreme) right-wing views, are the media that dominate almost all the news in Colombia, almost always expressing a defeatist and denigrating attitude towards our guerrilla force, not to speak of the comments that appear almost automatically, as if by magic, fuelling war and hatred. Strangely, right-wing, if not fascist, positions can be freely expressed in social networks, without being attacked by anyone. The ones who dare to give an opinion in favor of the FARC or our proposals, is buried under insults and if the comments leave them without arguments, they are simply wiped out.

And the thousands of fake profiles on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and many others of the most visited networks in Colombia; profiles instigating and justifying war, almost completely copying the ideas of their warmongering bosses, who might be directly responsible for some specialized unit of a virtual army, who knows?

If this is the matrix they try to impose upon us as an example of free expression in my beloved Colombia, we are far from getting the freedom to expose other viewpoints, different to the -imposed- official truth. What is the fear? Why don't they want the Colombian people to know the other side of the Colombian conflict?

In these days you can hear the government's announcement, with great fanfare, that the conditions exist for the members of the guerrilla to change their weapons for votes, that the lack of guarantees to participate in politics doesn't exist and they underline that there is freedom of speech, that there is democracy in this country...

If these are the guarantees offered by the State for us to become a political movement, we wonder: Is Colombia ready for the deep democratic changes we need?
