Actions for Leyla Güven in Switzerland

Several actions took place in Swiss cities to support HDP Hakkari MP who reached day 78 of her hunger strike.

DTK Co-chair and HDP MP Leyla Güven's indefinite hunger strike demanding the end of the isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan reached day 79.

Luzern

Ayvaz Ece, who has reached day 40th of hunger strike in Strasbourg greeted activists who participated to the rally held at Bahnhofplatz.

The rally was organised by CDK-Luzern.

CDK-Luzern co-chair Kadri Özkan commended the hunger strikers.

Ayvaz Ece from Strasbourg said: “We will continue our action until our leader is free.”

Zurich

Organized by CDK Zurich, a demonstration took place in Globus Square and was joined by hundreds of people.

Kurdish politician Mustafa Sarıkaya, who is on his 40th day of hunger strike in Strasbourg and addressed the crowd by phone.

Sarıkaya said: “The resistance of Leyla Güven and the other friends who are on hunger strike is the resistance of an entire people.”

Activists marched to Zurich international airport and distributed leaflets.

Solothurn

Tevgera Ciwanen Şoresger promoted a rally in support of the hunger strike initiated by Leyla Güven in front of the central railway station.

Ekrem Yılmaz, a hunger striker in Strasbourg, addressed the crowd by phone.

Yılmaz said that “the hunger strike will continue until the freedom of Öcalan is secured and isolation lifted.”

Lausanne

A rally was held in front of the central train station promoted by Lajin Women's Council.

Speaking via phone, Strasbourg hunger striker and KCDC-E co-chair Yuksel Koc stressed the importance of claiming the hunger strike iled by  Leyla Güven and asked everyone to defend this resistance everywhere.

Basel

An action was held in front of Basel train station to support hunger strikers.

Hüseyin Yıldız, who is on hunger strike in Holland, addressed the meeting via phone. He emphasized that the aim of the hunger strike is to “secure the end of the isolation against President Apo”.

The activist added: “I will not give up my action until our leader is freed.”

Rapperswil

A solidarity action has been promoted by the CDK in front of the central train station.

The CDK reminded that Leyla Güven’s health is rapidly deteriorating and that her demand to end isolation against Öcalan must be met.
