The London based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the death toll in Syria's civil war has risen to at least 125,835, more than a third of them civilians. The Observatory warned that the real figure could be much higher.

The monitoring group appealed to U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and "all people in the international community who have a conscience" to increase their efforts to end the war which is being fought for the past 2 and a half years.

The Observatory also claimed the number of children killed in the conflict so far is 6,627.
