At least 1,4000 workers died of coronavirus in 2 years

The Health and Safety Labor Watch (ISIG) said in a report that at least 1,400 workers lost their lives due to coronavirus in Turkey in 2 years.

According to the report published by the Health and Safety Labor Watch (ISIG), at least 1,400 workers lost their lives due to coronavirus. The report added that 146 of the dead workers were women, while 1,254 were men.

The report showed that at least 14 workers died of COVID-19 in March 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, while 105 died in April, 30 in May, 13 in June, 16 in July, 57 in August, 52 in September, 53 in October, 162 in November and 242 in December 2020.

In 2021, 81 workers died of COVID-19 in January, 38 in February, 36 in March, 136 in April, 121 in May, 15 in June, 3 in July, 22 in August, 57 in September, 37 in October, 50 in November and 28 in December.

In 2022, the report said that 20 workers died of COVID-19 in January and at least 10 in February.

According to the İSİG report, 1,196 of the death workers were wage earners, while 204 were self-employed.

176 workers who died of COVID-19 (12.57 percent) were members of a union, 1,224 workers (87.43 percent) were not.

The highest number of workers who died of covid-19, 514, were working in healthcare, social services sectors.
