In a message to the International Kurdish Culture Festival held today in Cologne in Germany, Bayik accused Turkish, Arab and Iranian colonialists of attempting to destroy Kurds and erase them from history.

THE COLONIAL POWERS WANT TO DESTROY EVERYTHING THAT REPRESENT KURDS

“They want to destroy everything that represents Kurds and Kurdistan. To achieve this goal they are using assimilation, physical genocide, prosecution, exile and cultural genocide tools simultaneously. Today they are setting Kurdistan’s nature on fire. Kurds are being thrown in that fire. Our towns are destroyed. Our people are subjected to forced migration and are arrested. Our language, culture and art are banned. All of these has only one aim: to destroy everything about Kurds” Bayik said in his message.

CALL TO ARTISTS OF THE NATION

Bayik recalled the freedom struggle of Kurdish people led by Abdullah Ocalan and said: “Our leader Apo, guerrilla, PKK and our people, specifically Kurds in Europe are carrying out a historic struggle against these politics of genocide. With this struggle, they prevent the success of colonialist’s politics of genocide. Therefore I offer my respect and send my greetings to our people in Europe for their efforts. Our people in Europe are in a very serious struggle against the politics of the colonial powers. The protect the values of Kurdistan especially our leader. (Abdullah Ocalan)”

Citing how the PKK and Ocalan stood against assimilation from the beginning Bayik said now it’s the artists’ mission to protect and improve Kurdish culture against the capitalist modernity.

At the end of his message, Bayik said: “the victory is ours! The colonizers will lose!”
