Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) group deputy chair İdris Baluken held a press conference in the parliament to condemn the 9 October conspiracy which led Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan being forced to leave Syria in 1998.
Baluken remarked that the conspiracy led by Turkey, USA and NATO was aimed at creating a regional chaos, suppressing the Kurdish people in the body of their leader and starting a Turkish-Kurdish war and also imposed a war to confront peoples in the Middle East with each other.
Baluken pointed out that the purpose of the international conspiracy against Mr. Öcalan was to establish a ground for building the new Middle East project and to create an environment imposing deadlock for the Kurdish issue as well as the denial and elimination of Kurds.
Baluken said that the spirit of the chaos-aimed conspiracy was still alive today despite the defeat of the conspiracy by the sensitive approach and resistance displayed by Kurdish and other peoples in Turkey in this 15 years time.
Remarking that the conspiracy has failed to eliminate neither the Kurdish people nor the Kurdish freedom movement as it had intended, Baluken highlighted that peoples have made the Rojava revolution in response to the conspiracy that aimed to draw Öcalan away from Syria and the Middle East.
Noting that peoples in Turkey defend and demand a democratic solution to the Kurdish question, Baluken said that the deadlock the democratic resolution process is facing today was caused by AKP government's not strategic but pragmatic attitude grounded on current political conjuncture.
Baluken put emphasis that Mr. Öcalan's presence and his political mission was a chance for the achievement of a peaceful solution to the Kurdish issue in Turkey.
He said it was a historic responsibility to end the unlawful and inhuman isolation imposed on the Kurdish leader and to enable him to do his part in the peace process.
Baluken added that the Turkish state and government should change the attitude towards Öcalan and display a strategic approach towards him to answer the public demand for peace.
