Trade Union Freedom for Ocalan Campaign in Britain has sent a message to "express our solidarity with Leyla Guven who is currently imprisoned and on hunger strike in protest at the isolation of Abdullah Ocalan on Imrali."

The British Unions added: "We share Ms Guven’s concern for the welfare of Mr Ocalan and will continue to press for him to be released and for him to have immediate access to his legal representatives, political supporters and his family."

The British Unions said to be "also concerned regarding Ms Guven’s own imprisonment which is unjust and anti-democratic. Unfortunately we cannot be represented at her trial on the 26 December but please pass on our message of solidarity. As long as there are people like Ms Guven prepared to speak up for democracy, peace and freedom the struggle for justice will never be defeated."
