Claim that 'Turkey sent aid to Kobanê' not verified
The pro-government Sabah newspaper has claimed that after PYD Co-President Salih Muslim visited Ankara the Turkish state despatched trucks carrying aid to Kobanê. However, this claim has not been verified by local sources or MPs.
According to a claim in today’s edition of Sabah, following meetings PYD Co-President Salih Muslim held with the Turkish Foreign Ministry and MIT (Turkish Intelligence), the Turkish state began to send aid to Kobanê.
The article claimed that "while trucks of medicine and food have set out, logistic support will also be provided through the Kurdish administration.”
Claims not verified
The claims regarding trucks have not been verified by sources waiting at the border. Those who have been maintaining a vigil at the border for days drew attention to intensifying attacks, adding they have observed no indication of a change in Turkey’s policy towards Kobanê.
DTK Co-President Selma Irmak answered the questions of ANF, saying: "We do not yet have any information about this". She added that they were awaiting concrete steps from the government, which has said it also does not want Kobanê to fall, emphasising that they had told the military and political authorities that "we need weapons, not bread".
Irmak continued, saying it was obvious what Kobanê needed, warning: "Let’s not forget that the defeat of Kobanê would not just be a defeat for the Kurds, but for everyone in the region.”
