Following two days of rare clashes, militants of al-Qaeda linked armed groups, ISIS (the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham) and al-Nusra Front, attacked the Kurdish Serêkaniyê city in western Kurdistan last night.

Clashes broke out as YPG (People's Defense Units) guerrillas responded to the attack from Til Xelef. Lasting two hours, clashes intensified in an area near the Til Xalef village where al-Nusra militants are deployed.

Gang groups have reportedly suffered heavy losses in clashes with YPG fighters.
