Clear message from Strasbourg: We must all resist!

Representatives from institutions attended the rally against the isolation in front of the EP, saluting Leyla Guven and stating that the isolation is a crime against humanity that must be resisted against.

Strasbourg hunger strikers on their 31st day and activists from the support hunger strike in Frankfurt spoke in the rally held in front of the European Parliament (EP) with attendees from Kurdistan, Turkey and various European countries. HDP MP Meral Danis Bestas, CIK Representative Melle Kasim and MLKP Representative Huseyin Yeter also gave speeches.

BESTAS: THE KURDISH PEOPLE MUST MAKE THEIR VOICE HEARD MORE IN THE WORLD

HDP MP Meral Danis Bestas spoke in the rally and pointed to the isolation: “We must make our voice heard throughout the world in this process. As other peoples are recognized, the Kurdish people must also be recognized now.”

Bestas also said: “Today 274 friends are accompanying Leyla Guven in her hunger strike.”

Bestas contiued: “We stand with them and say the same thing everywhere: Isolation is a crime against humanity. The AKP government deliberately uses isolation. Today we are here in Strasbourg to protest this,” demanding that the European countries change their attitude.

Bestas said Leyla Guven and other hunger strikers state that the isolation is a crime against humanity and stressed that there will be resistance against the isolation. Bestas added that the CPT and the CoE are part of this crime: “The CoE and CPT are silent. This silence must end.”

MLKP: OUR DUTY IS TO RESIST UNTIL THE END

Huseyin Yeter spoke in the name of the MLKP and said: “We must increase the hunger strike resistance everywhere and support this resistance. History has shown us once again that the CPT and Council of Europe (CoE), institutions of a fascistic political regime, stand with the Turkish regime with their silence. Our duty is to resist until the end, and we will do so.”

“NO LIFE WITHOUT OCALAN”

Politician Serhat Agiri said all Kurdistanis in Europe must be in the protests to support the hunger strikes. Agiri stressed that the Kurdish people take their strength for the fight from their Leader and his ideology and that there can be no life without Ocalan.”

Agiri said social media support for the protests alone is not enough and called on the people to increase actions everywhere.

New Women member Hulya Onur spoke in the name of the hunger strikers in Frankfurt and stressed that the isolation and fascism affect women first.

She saluted Leyla Guven’s prison resistance in her speech and pointed to the importance of women’s resistance against torture.

CIK: ISLAM APPROVES OF RESISTANCE AGAINST TYRANNY

Melle Kasim spoke in the name of the Kurdistan Islamic Community (CIK) and said the isolation has taken the tyranny against Kurdish people to an advanced level. Melle Kasim stressed that they support actions against the isolation and that Islam approves of resistance against tyranny.

Some MEPs were unable to attend due to a vote in the EP but sent messages of support.
