Demonstrations against Shengal genocide across Europe

On the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the Shengal genocide, Kurdish people and their friends gathered in many cities across Europe and staged demonstrations to condemn the perpetrators and their accomplices in the genocide, and to express support for an autonomous administration in Shengal.
The Kurdish Freedom Movement and the path of resistance followed by Êzidî women were the center of praise in the demonstrations.
BELGIUM - BRUSSELS
The activity staged in Belgium capital city Brussels was led by Martyr Beritan Women's Council in front of the city's central station with participation of women.
The council's co-spokesperson Arife Soysüren held a short speech in which she called for solidarity with the struggle of the Êzidîs to heal their wounds.
The police registered the names of all demonstrators with the pretext that 'a permission for the activity was not granted'.
BELGIUM - LIEGE
Led by the Martyr Ronahi Women's Council, 200 people gathered in the Lamperte Square of Belgium city Liege to protest the Shengal genocide.
People were called upon to join the mass march after on 5th August.
GERMANY - MANNHEIM
Upon the initiative of the Democratic Kurdish Society Center and Ronahi Berivan Women's Council in German city Mannheim, an activity was held in front of the city's central station, where a press statement was made on the occasion of the Shengal genocide anniversary.
Speeches were held after a minute of silence for the victims of the genocide and the martyrs of resistance, which were accompanied by chants of the slogan "Long Live the Resistance of Shengal". The activists distributed leaflets in German language to the passers-by.
GERMANY - DARMSTADT
An activity was held in Darmstadt to commemorate the victims of the Shengal genocide at Luisenplatz Square, where the activists distributed leaflets.
Co-chair of Democratic Kurdish Society Center, Merdan Kaçmaz stressed in his speech that the Turkish state and some Arab states have sponsored the ISIS gangs from the beginning, while the European countries kept watching it in silence.
GERMANY - DRESDEN
In the German city of Dresden, many people joined the activity led by UTA Women's Council and PYD to demonstrate the genocide of the Êzidîs in Shengal.
The German Police obstructed the children of demonstrators for wearing t-shirts with pictures of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan, and noted down the identities of the participants in the demonstrations.
SWEDEN - STOCKHOLM
The Shengal genocide was also condemned in Sweden. The activity was staged at Medborgarplatsen square in the capital city Stockholm, where a press statement was made, calling attention to the Êzidî women and people, organised by the liberation of their land by PKK and YPG, against the ISIS gangs.
ITALY - ROME
A demonstration was held against the Shengal genocide in the Italian capital city of Rome, where people gathered at the square Piazza Della Madonna di Loreto and read aloud statements about the massacre of 3 August 2014.
During the activity, leaflets were distributed to the tourists and slogans as "Terrorist Erdoğan" and "Murderer ISIS" were chanted.
FRANCE - MARSEILLE
Arin Mirkan Women's Council staged an activity in French city Marseille in commemoration of the victims of the Shengal genocide.
The activity took place at square Vieux-Porte, and was supported by the tourists with applauding.
FRANCE - BORDEAUX
The Shengal genocide was also protested in Bordeaux, where people gathered at Victoria square and chanted slogans in support of Shengal.
A short play was staged about the women of Shengal.
At the end of the demonstration the anthem of Shengal was sung by the activists.
FRANCE - PARIS
Organised by the Kurdish Women's Movement in France (TJK-F), the Shengal genocide was also protested in French capital city Paris. A great number of Kurdish people and representatives of various institutions attended the activity at Catelet Le Hallese square, which started with a minute of silence.
Speeches on the genocide of Êzidîs were held by TJK-F representative Jiyan Ege, French Association of Solidarity with the Kurdistan chairperson Sylvie Jan, chairperson of the Êzidî Association in France Hemin Shaan, co-chair of Armenian Association in France Aro Tornaian, French Human Aid Association representative Elise Boghassian and the Socialist Women's Union representative.
The speeches highlighted the role of the KDP in the tragedy suffered by the Êzidîs, and stressed the importance of self-administration and self-defense as counter measures to further massacres and femicide.
Throughout the activity, slogans were chanted such as "Long live Shengal's independence, Long Live Shengal Women's Unit (YJŞ), Long Live the resistance of Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ)".
The activity ended with a play by the theater group 'Compagnie Bien a Vous Armanc Kerborani' about the massacre against the Êzidîs.
FRANCE - NORMANDY
Kurdistan people living in Normandy region of France staged a demonstration by the initiative of Kurdish Women’s Movement in France, in front of the Church Mantes Le Jolie at 11.15.
Leaflets informing of the genocide of Êzidîs were distributed to the passers-by throughout the demonstration.
The activity ended with slogans as "Long Live the resistance of YJŞ, Long Live the resistance of YBŞ and Long Live leader Öcalan".
FRANCE - STRASBOURG
An information tent was pitched in Kleber square in the French city of Strasbourg at 15.00 which was open to the much-interested public until 18.00.
Many leaflets were distributed to the local people, after a statement was read aloud by the Free Êzidî Kurdish Women's Movement.
DENMARK - COPENHAGEN
Despite heavy rainfall, a tent activity was still held in Denmark to protest the Shengal genocide.
Kurds living in Copenhagen gathered at the information tent and held a minute of silence in commemoration of the victims of the Shengal genocide and the fighters who fell martyrs during the following struggle.
The activists distributed thereafter leaflets to the passers-by and informed the public on the Shengal genocide.
NETHERLANDS - AMSTERDAM
In the demonstration in Dutch city Amsterdam, a group of Kurdish activists wore white garments symbolizing shrouds to commemorate the victims of the Shengal genocide, and condemned the forces involved in the genocide.
Co-chair of the Democratic Kurdish Society Center in Amsterdam, Hümê Dersim, read out a statement in Dutch language informing the public on the 3rd anniversary of the Shengal genocide.
The activists chanted slogans as "Long Live YBŞ-YJŞ", "Fascist Erdoğan", "Dictator Erdoğan", and distributed leaflets to the Dutch people and tourists.
