Deposed co-mayor of Siirt sentenced to over 10 years in prison

The Turkish regime’s political genocide against democratically elected political representatives of the Kurdish people continues increasingly.

The trial of deposed co-mayor of Siirt, Tuncer Bakırhan, took place before Siirt 2nd Heavy Penal Court on Monday.

Bakırhan re-stands trial for alleged “membership to a terrorist organization” despite the fact that the prison sentence he had previously received with the same allegation has been annulled by the Regional Court in Antep.

During Monday’s hearing, Bakırhan was sentenced to a total of 10 years, 10 months and 11 days in prison. His prison term includes 8 years and 9 months for “being member of a terrorist organization”, 1 year, 3 months and15 days for “spreading terror propaganda”, and 10 months for “insulting the institutions of the Turkish Republic State”.
