Amed-based Free Journalists' Association has announced in a written statement that 20 press members working for the Kurdish media continue to be held in custody since they were detained while crossing the border to the Suruç side three days ago.
The Association noted that the detained members of the Kurdish media who work for various news agencies, televisions and radios in Kobanê were evacuated from the town along with the civilians fleeing the most recent ISIS attacks.
The Association reported that the press members who were detained along with some 140 people have started hunger strike in protest against the ongoing detention.
The Free Journalists' Association called for the immediate release of Kurdish press workers from Kobanê, also urging wider support from trade bodies and journalists to ensure the release of the Kurdish journalists whose names were listed as follows;
