Die Linke: End the isolation, start negotiations

Die Linke issued a statement calling for an immediate end to the isolation and the start of negotiations, calling on the German state to not be complicit in Turkey’s crimes.

Spokespersons Cornelia Barth and Felix Pithan issued a statement in the name of Die Linke Bremen State Administration and stressed that the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan constitutes torture and called for an immediate end.

“GERMAN GOVERNMENT SHOULDN’T BE COMPLICIT IN THE CRIMES”

The statement said Leyla Guven, who continues her hunger strike against the isolation, was released from prison on the 79th day of her hunger strike and pointed out that the Erdogan regime imprisons representatives to suppress the democratic opposition. It also stated that Turkish state forces and radical Islamist gangs have occupied Rojava (Afrin) and stressed that the German government should not be complicit in these crimes any more through their partnership with Turkey.

The statement called for an immediate end to Germany’s weapons sales to Turkey.

“WE SHARE THE DEMAND TO END THE ISOLATION AND START NEGOTIATIONS”

The Die Linke statement also said the party shares Leyla Guven’s demands of an immediate end to the isolation imposed upon the Kurdish People’s Leader and the start of peace talks between Turkey and the PKK, and called for the immediate release of imprisoned MPs, co-mayors and thousands of political prisoners.

The Die Linke Bremen State Administration statement said the hunger strike launched in Strasbourg, France on December 17 aims for peace and negotiations and repeated their support for the hunger strike. The statement also said Mazlum Koc from the Die Linke Bremen State Administration, who was also a candidate in state elections, and other members of the administration visited the hunger strike to show this support.
