A reporter of the Dicle News Agency, Mensur Küçükkarga, who is a student in the department of journalism in Atatürk University and who was following the protest organised for Kobanê starting on 6 October to protest the attacks carried out by the ISIS gangs, was taken into custody by the police from his house in the Palandöken district of Erzurum on Tuesday. He was brought to the police department in Hınıs and then taken to the prosecutor’s office.

Mensur Küçükkarga, who was following the Kobanê protest in Hınıs district, was arrested because of the testimony of a person who also gave statements against many people and became the reason of their arrests. The reporter was sent to the high criminal court where he was formally arrested. He was sent to the H type Erzurum closed prison.

The lawyer of Küçükkarga, Kadir Güzelbaba, made a statement about the issue, saying that without any evidence, by abstract testimonies, the court decided to arrest Mensur Küçükkarga. He said that this was not correct and that they will object to the arrest decision.
