After assessing the objections to the election results, the Iraqi Supreme Election Commission confirmed on Wednesday that results from 954 election centers nationwide and 67 centers abroad had not been accepted.
Before that, results had been refuted in 102 centers. These included 51 centers in Hewler (Erbil) and Anbar, 17 in Baghdad, 11 in Saladin and 16 in Nineveh.
According to the Election Commission, objections were raised at 2,000 centers. As a result of a further assessment, results from another 852 centers were refuted.
These are the areas affected by the Election Commission decision:
Kirkuk 186, Hewlêr 73, Anbar 50, Sulaymaniyah 96, Baghdad 6, Duhok 224, Diyala 2, Saladin 36, Nineveh 179, Anbar 50.
The centers abroad whose results have not been ratified are: Germany, Jordan, USA, Sweden, United Kingdom and 67 polling centers in Turkey.
After the parliamentary elections held in Iraq on May 12, many parties in the Kurdistan Region objected to the election results which they claimed were ridden with fraud and irregularities.
Goran Movement, Democracy and Justice Coalition, Yekgırtu, Komela Islam, Communist Party and Islamic Movement Party were the six parties rejecting the election results.
