Families of victims ask Davutoğlu to explain what he knows

The three associations called on former Prime Minister to “explain what he knows after his comments about the period from 7 June to 1 November 2015."

Joint calls were made in three cities simultaneously, demanding former Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu say what he knows about 7 June - 1 November period.

The calls were issued by Suruç Families Initiative, 10 October Peace and Solidarity Association and 5 June Amed Families Initiative.

The 10 October Peace and Solidarity Association made a statement at the association building in Ankara, while the Suruç Families Initiative met at the IHD building in Istanbul and the June 5 Amed Families Initiative met at the IHD building in Amed.

The three associations called on former Prime Minister to “explain what he knows after his comments about the period from 7 June to 1 November 2015."

Davutoğlu had said: "If the past is raked up about counter-terrorism, several people cannot go out in public. When the history of the Republic of Turkey is written one day, one of the most critical periods will be the one between 7 June and 1 November."

The families of those who lost their lives in the massacres which occurred between these dates asked to know "why and how our loved ones were killed ”.

The statement said: "We do not ask what happened in this process. We ask how it happened. From here we address Davutoğlu and the political power he came from. Our country has been transformed into the passage point of the most bloody jihadist gang in history in your period of power. It has been transformed into a comfortable area where ISIS militants can go around with their arms, and even in some regions they can control identity, organize themselves as they wish, and easily stand out from judicial processes."

Unable to come to power alone in the 7 June elections the AKP called for new elections on 1 November 2015.

Between those two dates, first the attack against two police officers in Ceylanpınar, Urfa, on 22 July ended the Resolution process. Shortly before the elections on 7 June, a bomb exploded at the Diyarbakır rally of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) on5  June.

In that period there were two bomb attacks, cross-border operations, detentions and arrests across Turkey, curfews in eastern and southeastern provinces and deaths of civilians, soldiers and police officers.

What happened between these two elections affected the election results. Receiving 49 percent of votes, the AKP once again came to power alone.

The statement of the families of the victims of the attacks, reminded that 103 people lost their lives on 10 October massacre.

"What we ask the former prime minister is this: - said the families - Will you act as a politician who is responsible to the people and come clean and tell what you know in front of the cameras in the courtrooms? Or do you plan to use what you know as a leverage in your struggle with the AKP?"
