Fierce fighting continues in Kobanê
Violent clashes between YPG/YPJ (People's/Women's Protection Units) guerrillas and ISIS gangs are continuing, mainly at the eastern and southern fronts, in the Kobanê town of West Kurdistan, Rojava.
As fighting continued all night long, ISIS gangs have carried out continuous mortar attacks on the Mürşitpınar border crossing area yesterday. Some of the mortar shells hit the North Kurdistan side of the border.
Clashes erupted as YPG forces responded to the attacks launched by gangs at the eastern and southern fronts last night. Six gang members were killed, a bomb-laden vehicle was destroyed and one other vehicle was damaged in last night's clashes.
According to reports provided by ANHA (Hawar News Agency) correspondents on the ground, ISIS gangs attempted an attack with a bomb-laden vehicle at the eastern front late yesterday evening. YPG fighters spotted and immediately destroyed the vehicle, also responding to the attacks launched by the gangs from various directions.
It has been reported that the bomb-laden vehicles, a means to which gangs are mainly resorting in recent weeks after suffering a defeat at the battlefront against YPG forces, are prepared in Tal Abyad before being sent to the Kobanê area.
Violent clashes are reported to be going on in the east and south side of the town.
