'Freedom for Leader' march to Amara begins

Over a hundred people in Urfa have started the first section of the 'Freedom for Leader' march to mark the 66th birthday of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan in his village on 4 April.

Over a hundred people in Urfa have started the first section of the 'Freedom for Leader' march to mark the 66th birthday of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan in his village on 4 April.

A large number of people are expected to join the march which will kick off from various points and end in Amara village in Halfeti district of Urfa.

HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) Urfa deputies İbrahim Ayhan and İbrahim Binici, HDP, DBP provincial and district co-chairs, mayors of Suruç, Viranşehir and Bozova, representatives of many NGOs are also among the mass joining the march.

In a short statement on behalf of the participants of the march, DBP Urfa co-chair İsmail Kaplan stressed that; “The freedom of Leader Apo will enable the achievement of a permanent peace in Turkey.”

Masses from Antep and Adıyaman will also join the march tomorrow.
