The South Kurdistan Freedom for Öcalan Committee celebrated the birthday of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and demanded his freedom.
In a message, the South Kurdistan Freedom for Öcalan Committee said that “Mr. Öcalan's birthday and the 50-year freedom struggle have led to a rebirth for the Kurdish people”.
“In this 50-year history of struggle, Öcalan has remained in prison for 23 years by displaying an outstanding resistance and struggle for a democratic solution against the genocidal mentality and the fascist regime of Turkey, the legitimate cause of the Kurdish people, peace and coexistence. Freedom thinker Öcalan's life has become an important part of history, life and the future. He has introduced a system of thought and philosophy for his people and humanity.”
The message added: “Öcalan, who has been under aggravated isolation for more than 23 years, has been displaying a unique resistance against the AKP-MHP fascist regime. With its special war methods, this fascist regime is trying to break the influence of Öcalan over the freedom movement, the Kurdish people and other peoples. Isolation against him has been introduced to remove his influence. However, the influence of Öcalan's ideas and policies has increased over the years. The Kurdish people and pro-freedom people are educating and organizing themselves with the ideas and philosophy of Öcalan.
The freedom movement and our people will never accept the imprisonment and isolation of Öcalan. The struggle for the physical freedom of Öcalan will continue, and his life and health will be considered as s red line for us. We will not allow any conspiracy against him to succeed. We will continue the struggle with the utmost importance under the motto 'Dem dema azadiya Rêber Apo ye/Time is the Time for Freedom'.”
