German cities for Leyla Güven

Actions are being organised in many cities of Germany to urge institutions to act quickly for Leyla Güven.

Leyla Güven’s indefinite hunger strike demanding the end of the isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan reached day 78.

Mannheim

In Mannheim Kurds visited RNF Television to talk about the hunger strike resistance led by HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven.

A delegation of activists brought German journalist a file explaining the reasons for the hunger strike resistance.

Giessen

In the city of Giessen Kurds and their friends gathered in Berlinerplatz.

One of the hunger strikers in Europe joined the action by telephone and talked about the reasons of the resistance.

Before the action, the German police wanted to seize the photos of Öcalan carried by activists who protested against the abuse.

Hildesheim

In Hildesheim the Martyr Meryem Women's Commune went to the charity AWO office, the country's biggest employer, and left a file on Leyla Güven.

Hediye Deniz, a member of the Martyr Meryem Women's Commune spoke on behalf of the activists and pointed out the risk of life for Leyla Güven.

An AWO official took the file and promised to deliver it to the appropriate office.

Saarbürcken

Kurds living in Saarbürcken staged an action in front of the Europagalerie.

Activists opened an information tent and then held a rally. Speaking at the rally, Saarbrücken DKTM co-chair Dilan Akdoğan called for European institutions, especially German ones, to act quickly for the hunger strikers.

Deniz Kökgüt, one of the hunger strikers in Europe made a speech by phone. “This process is led by Leyla Güven”, said the hunger strikers who shares information on the ongoing hunger strike resistance in Strasbourg.

Bremen

In the city of Bremen Kurds took the street once again.

The action was promoted by Sêvê Women's Council.

Kurds gathered in front of the main train station and opened a banner saying “Isolation is a crime against humanity”.

Mönchengladbach

In Mönchengladbach, Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger commune organized an action at the train station.

Activists underlined that Leyla Guven has been on hunger strike nearly 80 days.

Wuppertal

In Wuppertal Kurds held a rally in front of the main train station to support the hunger strikers.

Munich

An information tent was put up in Munich four days ago by Sara Women's Council at Marienplatz.

Speaking at a tent spokesperson of the Sara Women's Council, Zübeyde Akmeşe said: “We will continue to give voice to the hunger strikers and their demands.”
