Guven can’t walk, won’t attend mother’s condolences

Leyla Guven, on the 59th day of her indefinite hunger strike, won’t be attending her mother’s condolence visits due to her health.

Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) Hakkari MP Leyla Guven, who went on a hunger strike on November 8 in the Diyarbakir Type E Prison demanding an end to the isolation imposed upon Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Ocalan and his immediate freedom, lost her mother yesterday but won’t be able to attend Cevriye Guven’s condolence visits in Konya.

According to her lawyer, Guven, currently on the 59th day of her hunger strike, won’t be able to attend the condolence visits for her mother due to her worsening health.

Guven had her routine medical checks yesterday and her blood pressure was at 9/7. Medical staff informed Guven of the risks a possible trip might have on her body, but she said she would still like to attend the condolence visits.

Final checks were made before Guven’s trip planned for early this morning, but the checks showed symptoms like hypertension, fatigue, nausea, dizziness. Guven was unable to walk, and on her lawyers’ advice, at the last minute decided not to attend her mother’s condolence visits.
